yes, this should work; you probably need to setup the synth to use
"external MIDI clock" or whatever it is called.

You'll have to setup midish to receive MIDI Time Clock (MTC), this
way it stays in sync with audio programs (with "dmtcrx <devnum>"),
and then, possibly make jack use MIDI Machine Control (MMC) from
midish to start/stop/relocate according to commands on the midish
prompt.

BTW, do you finally have a receipe to make midish work reliably
with jack?
